We are facing one typical problem. Till few days back our server was running fine. Our application is on oracle. We use Ilink terminal emulator (dos and ethernet version)for access to the server. The software consultant loaded some "upgrades". After this the server started givivg the following error:-
eeE:watchdog reinit memory 3 for board 0ee

Whenever this error used to appear on screen, the entire system (including server and network). We referred to the sco site for explanation of the error. One suggestion was upgradation of the Intel Ether Express Pro driver. This was done. Now the server is not hanging when the above error appears but all the front end gets "hanging".We have to reset the server to make our terminals "work".
Also netstat -m shows all entries as zero under the fail column.
Any one having idea about the scenerio mentioned...?

Thanks In Advance

What is a watchdog timer panic or error message?

On SCO systems, this is apt to indicate a problem with the Intel Pro100 nic card driver; see
In general, a watchdog timer is a piece of code that attempts to keep some other piece of code from getting stuck in an endless loop. Usually that's done by some common data structure that the code being watched is supposed to update frequently. The watchdog code keeps checking; if it sees that the data has not been updated, it assumes the other program has gone awry.

The system never gave any "panic" message.Only thing is, it is creating hanging. Only difference after "upgradation" of the driver is that the server does not hang but the "terminals" (PCs running Ilink) get hung.

We tried to explore further. The ethernet card (Intel eePRO 100)does not work at 100MBPS(NEITHER FULL NOR HALF DUPLEX).Whenever we try to change the mode of operation of the ethernet card, the system gives following message while relinking the kernel:-
/opt/K/SCO/link/1.1.1Eb/etc/conf/bin/idvbuild: no more than16 adapters allowed.

However the kernel gets relinked after this.
We thought of changing the ethernet card. Here when we go to network configuration manager in scoadmin,we have the following entries under this adapter:-
SCO TCP/IP
SCP TPI NETBIOS for TCP/IP
LMC Runtime System
SCO NFS Runtime System

If I remove this card and re-install another one, do I have to install all the options listed above or they will get attached to the new adapter by default?

Thanks

Any one having gone through same situation?

If you use netconfig to remove a card and add in a new one, yes the parameters will come back as you go through them- definitely for tcp/ip; it's been a long long time since I've done aanything but tcp/ip though.. Tony Lawrence

Thanks Tony. Anything on the error mentioned by me (about 16 adapters)..........?

If you look at the /etc/conf/sdevice.d/eeE you'll see what's wrong with that.. Tony Lawrence

I have seen this file. This has following entries:-

eeE y 0 5 0 0 0 0 0 0
eeE n 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0
eeE n 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0
eeE n 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0
