I copied a table in Access, added _bak to the name, made changes to it, and then renamed the original _bak1, and renamed my modified copy to the original.

Now when I'm trying to add a new record from a form, I get a message, "You cannot add or change a record because a related record is required in table..." What did I do wrong?

Could be the relationship somehow followed the table, did you check out what happens when you use the show all relationships button in the relationship window?

Also - did you happen to have the "Name Autocorrect" thingies in Tools | Options - General tab checked? If so, turn them off before trying again (and, as it can have recourse impacts, also turn it off when deploying).
