Strange Problem with Target path

I have been working on a Sales CD using Flash MX. I've recently run into a very strange problem involving target paths. Right now, I have twenty-three movie clips and they are all recognized within the "insert target path pane", and work wonderfully. But now, Flash won't recognize any of my new, more recent movie clips, and I have no way to target their paths...
I've named the instances of the MCs, and the properties box recognizes them as such when they are selected within the root movie....I'm not sure what is goning on. On top of that, I'm having problems getting some new buttons to work .
Has this ever happened to anyone else? Do you have any suggestions as to a possible solution?

Thanks, Jenny

This is an update to the buttons problem.
I have discovered the problem was that I didn't indent on line two of my ActionScript...

It used to look like this:

on(release){
gotoAndPlay(13);}

Then, in desparation I tried this instead:

on(release){
gotoAndPlay(13);}

For some reason Flash prefered the second version.
