I have a customer with a acs 6.0 (looks like it was upgraded possibly a few times) everything has been up and working

configuration is 2 308ec , ACS, 400ec ,Partner Messaging

I can only get the processor to come up by itself

if I plug in the 308ec cards the lights flash on them and then go out the light stays on on the processor but it wont come up the phones just show a blank screeen no display no line access

I thought the 308ec's where bad so I replaced them with a couple of known good 206 4.1 cards with the same results

I tried a new carrier ...same thing

right now he is working partially with 3 lines and 8 ext processor only

The only thing I can think of is the processor so Im going to order a new one tomorrow

Am I correct ?

thought , comments

like I said the processor seems to work fine as a stand alone
thats the way I left it so they have 3x8

when I plug in either the orgianal 308ec or 206 cards the processor lites up but dosnt come up

I get the backlight on the display phones but no display and no line access or system functionality

this is a new one on me

I'm sorry by your post it wasn't clear that you did a stand alone test, It sounds like you have tested everything but the processor which you have ordered. I had one do this a while back and it was the processor, which finally went out all the way. By chance is there a R? on it so we can tell how old it is?

A trusted source for years.

it has r.3.1 written in pencil

feature 59 tells me 6.0 which leads me to speculate it was probably upgraded to 3.1 then to 6.0 so hard to say how old

is there anyway I can copy the progaming from this to the new processor ?

Hi skip555,
I have an ACS 3.0 upgraded to R6.0 running behind me with 206EC cards. I had a 308EC and it worked too. So, it's not an upgrade thing.
Try to save the current program on the back up card. Then dump the memory on the processor and see if it runs. You can restore the program if it doesn't help. If it does help, reprogram the processor from scratch.

I havent actuslly ordered the processor yet I figure Ill get the mart tomorrow and see what I can find

I haven't decide 6 vs 7 yet I need to look at the added features of the 7 to see if it is worth it

on the whole I try to stay away from new releases untill they have been around awhile

let other folks find and deal with the bugs

Hi skip555,
With your situation, you may find that the R6 is easier to deal with. If the processor is bad, you can simply restore the existing program. Keep the new pc card for a future upgrade.
The R7 will require a complete reprogram as the existing processor can not be upgraded to the R7 level. The PC card is extra with the R7 as well. I doubt the customer will want the R7 enough to pay more unless they are at the end of their system and are desperate for a couple ports. 5X9 translates to 4X9 if the customer uses paging.
It looks like Avaya is going to offer both processors for a while.

I see no need for the R7.0. Get a new R6.0 and take the backup/restore from the old processor, put it in the new one and do a restore (125). That should at least save you from reprogramming.

well I replaced the processor today and everything came up just fine

did a backup on the old processor and restored to the new , set the time and date we were good to go

I still think it strange that it was working fine as a 308 but would not bring up any other cards

do the other cards get power from the processor ? if so then the Power supply could be getting weak I suppose

it seems like if it where a program error it would have followed the backup and appeared on the new processor

I think I ll look around and see if I can find a power supply for the old acs

No, the other mods don't get power from the processor so don't bother. Each have their own PS. This sounds like a corrupted firmware problem or something like that. Nothing that you are going to fix I'm afraid.

ebay time then

works great !!!! [wink]

( I probably will list it with a full descrpion of the problems )

Hi skip555,
Sounds like a data bus fault. The other cards communicate with the processor. If the bus goes down, so does the processor. You are quite correct in thinking a programming fault would have been transferred to the new processor.
