Hi guys,
I have this setting
Host1 <----> Router1 <----->Router2 <-----> Host2

Host1 can ping Host2 and vice versa
Host1 can ping Router1, Router2
Host2 can ping Router2, Router1

Router1 cannot ping Host2 (but can ping host1 and router2)
Router2 cannot ping Host1 (but can ping host2 and router1)

the routers are connected via isdn
any ideas?

Are you pinging interface or loopback addresses on routers?

do you have loopback addreses configured? if yes do you have the network they belong to in the routing table?

That is indeed strange!

Since you can ping end to end, is connectivity affected or working properly?

In my CCNA experience I have not had where a router cannot ping accross where a host connected to that router can, I have only had problems where the router CAN ping but the connected host cant!

Sounds unusual, i'm sure someone will know as this could be very useful in future.

Do the routers have something like an ACL or IP Filters?
Do the routers have a Firewall function in it ?
