Our system is a Merlin Legend R3 processor with 2 408 GS/LS modules, one 007 MLM voice mail with 2 voice mail ports has decided to get squirrelly on me with two major problems.

First problem: The operator will receive a call at her station, but when she picks the handset up she hears "If you would like to make a call, please hang up and try again" and then a extremely loud busy tone.

Second problem: Has to do with outside calls not being completed because all lines are busy. When this happens I verify how many calls are being made and never have I seen more than four people on their phones. I have had our local telco involved in trying to resolve the problem, but they say it appears to be in my switch, the lines are not releasing after the telephone call is completed or something else.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Check to make sure that LS Disconnect is set to yes under Line/Trunks in the Legend programming. Actually sounds like the two troubles are related. The operator picking up calls hearing "If you'd like to make a call..." sounds like a disco problem from vm where callers hangup, the line doesn't get dropped and defaults back to the operator. Dialing out problems getting all trunks busy could be related as well if lines are not dropping.

Have you changed service providers? check to see if you may have loop start lines programmed as ground start or vice versa.
