Hello,

i have an HP L2000 with an autoraid attached, the other week the internal root mirror disk failed and HP came out and replaced it. A day later we noticed that a volume which was on the autoraid which used to be 10GB had somehow shrunk to 800MB. There are no errors in the syslog and the autoraid appears to be fine. Has anyone out there got ideas to why this could of happended?

cheers

My first thought is around vgcfgrestore, presume HP ran this to recover the LVM info onto the disk ... however, cannot think how this would cause an issue.

Has anything else changed ???

was does vgdisplay show you, maybe the root volume group was mirrored onto the autoraid ?

hello,

we have given up on this as we/HP could not work out where the space had gone. Everything looked fine apart from this one logical volume which somehow lost 9.7GB!

in the end i borrowed a spare disk from another server and bought that into the volume group, recreated the file system and restored the data back from backup!

cheers for the suggestions
