First time I have ran into this one...

BCM50 Rls 1

Complaint early September: cannot login with Telset or GUI
-Tech rebooted a few times
-Tech tried both level 1 and 2 resets which neither worked.
-Replaced hard drive and updated patches and all is well.

Complaint today: same as above!
I went to site:
Telset- after user and password I get "Denied in Admin"
GUI (EM) - after user and password I got the pop up about how I do not have the cartridge and prompt to download, said OK, "error, cannot connect to device"
Dialup - Modem no longer answers, 2 weeks ago I had turned it on in F9*8, connected via dialup and verified modem box was checked and worked fine.

Since I did get a prompt for cartridge I believe the user and password are still ok but the features to program are all broken?

Hello Curly, Have you tried to web to the BCM's admin pages?. I usually do this when I get any login problems. My guess is that the BCM database is corrupted, assuming that you reloaded a copy that they had when you replaced the hard disk.

Hello Curly

Was the BCM 50 reprogramed after the patches were applied?. As you have a release 1 BCM 50, you might try and install the release 2 hard disk/ patches as the same keycodes for 1.0 can be used!. I think the release 2 version was a slightly more stable release.

-Not sure when patches installed on new hard drive.
I don't think the patches really matter because the issue occurred before on the old hard drive (before patches where installed on new hard drive).

-They do a lot of Telset programming so using original version of EM will not work for them as a resolution/temp fix.

Update

We did a restore of their backup to a test BCM and the test unit is now locked out too, cannot access programming via telset or PC.
Requested lab to attempt a level 1 or 2 reset which the first tech said was not possible on the problem unit.

So we have:
Old Hard Drive - No programming access
Replacement Hard Drive - Programmed form scratch, all ok including a second visit later.
Replacement Hard Drive - Now has no programming access
Test BCM in lab - Restored programming from a backup created when tech reprogrammed from scratch (which site system was still ok after that date) and now test system is locked out.

Curly, Can you FTP me the backup copy please and I'll load it up on my test system. I'm interested in looking at this problem.

Hello Curlycord

I've managed to get the backup copies from you OK. I've now done a full restore using the AppBackup.tar file. The LAN1 address shows as 192.168.143.166. The DN's look to start from 3644. Can you confirm that I do have the correct file please?. I'll try out the config backup file next.

I've now done a restore on top of the AppBackup.tar file using the Configuration CfgBackup.tar file. The restore process went fine and the system rebooted OK. I can still Validate the Device OK, but can't log in.

I now get the Device Login Error message of

Device component is restarting. Please wait 5 minutes and try again.

It's still trying to connect to the BCM whilst the message is displayed.

This message appears after it checks for updates.

I can HTTP via the web OK onto the home page and access the User Applications. However, I can't access the Administrator applications section as it asks for the password again, even though I had entered the nnadmin account OK at the start to get to the home page.

This would suggest that the Config file accounts section is corrupted. I'll now default the box again and load back in the config file, but untick the security tab so that none of the accounts are loaded back in again.

I've now done a level one reset that defaulted the DN's, but kept all my installed patches. I reloaded the Configuration database but unticked the security box and was able to access the system OK using nnadmin. I was also able to access the Administrator programs via the web access link and the DN's are the same as in the Application backup.

This confirms to me that the security section is corrupted on the configuration backup file. I hope this helps you?.
