I am teaching a Win2K server class currently. To demonstrate installation and the use of Active Directory and DC replication I have every student installing the server and configuring as a DC. Each student has an account on an existing DC (my instructor server) that is in the Administrators group. When the run the AD wizard all but three of the students were able to do this. For some reason the other three were given the error message that they needed Administrator access to perform the operation. I even created one of these users by copying one of the users who did not have a problem. For whatever reason we were able to work around the issue by putting the students in the Doman Admins group and this allowed them to run the AD setup wizard. Then I removed them from the Domain Admins group and everything was working as expected. Just wondering if anyone has seen this behavior and if there is some cause that maybe I missed?!?
Thanks,
