Hey

I want to try and set up a system for internet sharing that does the below

1) If not connect to LAN, dial up using that computers modem

2) If connected to LAN and no-one is on the net, dial up using that computers modem

3) If someone is connected to the net, use there net connection.

Is this possible with Windows Internet sharing?? If not is there a prog i can get to do this. I think this would be the best way to set up my system.... if its possible!

TIA

There are 2 types of computer, the prototype and the obsolete!!

if you have set-up Internet connection sharing on your computers there is an option in Internet explorer that states: dail whenever a network connection is not present. this sounds like what you are talking about. how far have you gone and what all do you need to know. it is possible to do all that you have said however what you have done isn't clear.

also, the one thing that i don't think is possible is to have one computer "make" the other dail out.

To make one computer make the other dial:

on the computer that you want to dial the net on the demand on the other PC:

Go to Start > Settings > Network and Dialup connections (WinME/2K)

Go to Start > Connect to > Show all connections (WinXP)

[Sorry don't know about Win95/98]

Right-click on your Internet connection eg Freeserve Anytime. Choose properties. Click on the sharing tab, make sure that both the 'share this net connection' and the 'enable on-demand dialing' box. Hit OK.

Now, on the PC that's going to demand to dial, go into Internet Explorer, click Tools > Internet Options. Click the settings tab and choose 'dial whenever a n/wk connection is not present'. Hit Apply then OK.

Please reply to let me know how you get on.
