One of our users is experiencing a strange formatting problem in Word97. When first opening a document from Word (ie File | Open) the formatting originally applied to the document are not translated correctly, ie strange characters appear instead of header, footer,etc. After closing the document and then re-opening it through the Recently Used Files list within Word the formatting is applied correctly and the document opens without any problems. I re-installed Word but this did not solve the problem. Has anyone experienced this problem before?
