A form I was using was working fine and yesterday the text boxes were not displaying what they had been and should be. While trying to figure out what was wrong I just happened to put the cursor in one of the text boxes and up pops the number that should have been there. I did it to all of them (about ten) and it worked in restoring all of them but if I close the form they go away again. What's wrong? Thanks.

Sounds like corruption in your form. There are also situations in which the Format property has a setting the distorts the actual values stored in a bound text box.

Any suggestions? Also, I opened an old copy of the same database and it does the same thing. Thanks.

It seems okay now. Turned out I had an expired subscription to Microsoft Office 365 Small Business Premium that was the problem. As soon as I uninstalled it everything works okay. Does Microsoft "slowly" deactivate trial subscriptions causing things to not work properly?

Anybody had this happen to them?

To be on the safe side... What is the control source for your text box? What is the expression for that field in the form's query rowsource for any calculated fields?

But assuming it is corruption - and I'm not entirely convinced it is - the process would go soemthing like...

Make backup copy.
Compact And Repair...
if Still broke, try opening with decompile command line switch...
if Still broke, check for missing references in the VBA IDE
if Still broke, import everything into fresh database file
if Still broke, do the same as above for any separate backend files
if Still broke, Delete and recreate problem controls on form
if still broke, import everything except offending form into new file and recreate the form from scratch
