Strange file names

Illustrator seems to be creating duplicate files and saving them to the folder I'm working in. Illustrator is naming them as follows:

Filename_#2CBD7

Filename_#2CC00

etc.

What is this all about?

That happens to me, too. It's really frustrating because it will happen in the middle of working on something, so the newest version has the gibberish name. I have the same problem with Quark 6.

I'm running 10.2.8 -- you?
