Hi, I'm having a peculiar problem when exporting a Report from Crystal 8.5 to Excel 2003. The report exports with no apparent problems,. but investigation of the values exported reveals multiple but discrete errors in currency values, to the extent that figures are negative. The report in crystal does not show such errors and I cannot understand at what point these values are changing and why. I use the export option Excel 8 (extended), but it occurs with all the excel export formats. I have uninstalled and re-installed crystal to no avail. Also the values are in UK pounds in crystal, but appear as dollars in excel, despite the regional settings of office being set as UK. This is no major as it's a simple format to correct, but the figures changing so radically is causing lots of challenges!!!!

Any insights would be much appreciated.

Excel 8 (extended)
You have an out-of-date export set-up, it should be MS Excel. Contact Crystal for the various patches and downloads. I've used both, and an upgrade will improve things remarkably.

It Appears, that crystal 8.5 has 'limitations' when exporting to excel, particularly when a shared variable is used in a sub report. I have been in discussion with Business Objects who confirmed this limitation. I have since downloaded a trial of CR10 which does not display the same problem and works a treat!

Thanks for your interest and I hope this may be of some use.

Be warned. When you go upgrade from version 8.5 to 9 or above, the excel export is considerably more wiziwig. Formatting etc can be exported. This is a double edged sword, nice to get the formatting but the report has to be designed for it or you can extra columns and rows with merged cells etc. That can further mess up manipulations in excel.

The "data only" can work a little bit better for some applications, but it isn't the same as the "old" export either.

Just a heads up.
