I have a user who has a weird e-mail. There is NO envelope and it has strange symbols. If you try to right click or try to access it, it freezes up the whole computer. I ran GWcheck, structure/contents, to no avail. Like I said you can't even scroll down in the users "in box" to where it is when everything freezes. Can you PLEASE suggest how I can get rid of this. Virus scan produces nothing because the email is on the server not on the hard drive. Can someone help? Also, I had the user log on to another cpu and see if the same thing happens.... it does.

Thanks. Janis Tomasone

You might try accessing the mailbox with WebAccess if you have the availablity. Next I would use the stand alone GWCheck instead of the GWCheck that is in GWView (in NWAdmin). Every time the GroupWise software distribution directory (SDD) is patched, the GWCheck is also updated. Therefore, the latest GWCheck is located in the SDD SOFTWARE\ADMIN\UTILITY\GWCHECK directory.

If you can see the subject of the mail you might try this:

Cheers,

Mark ;-)

Mark, thank you for responding. My co-worker called Novell and they told her the same thing you did. She went to web access and deleted the offending email successfully (sp?). Too bad she did that cause I would have been the hero of the day if I had suggested web access first :)) Oh well.
