I installed service pack 4 on a Windows 2000 server SP3 server. This server has Exchange 2000 SP2. As the service pack 4 installation was finishing up, a dialouge window titled "sp4iis" appeared stating the following: "Required DLL not found". The only option was to click "OK", so I did. A second window appeared stating, "Setup failed to remove ism.dll script mappings. Service pack setup will abort". When I clicked "OK" (only option) on this window, a third window appeared instructing me that the service pack installation failed and that I needed to reboot and use my emergency repair disk to restore settings. I tried to apply the service pack again; same error. I then rebooted and the system came up fine; I did not use emergency repair disk. Since then, I've tried re-applying service pack 4 many times after stopping IIS services, stopping Exchange services, removing recommended script mappings, and more. All attempts produce the same exact error. However, when I check my version of Windows 2000, it reports service pack 4.
