Hi

Can anyone shed some light on this perculiar event.

We have a AD forest with 4 child domains these are situated at the regional offices, and the root domain at Head Office.

We have some managers' situated in the child domains, but their staff in the HO.

When creating a new user at HO, and then try to put their manager under the organisation tab, in Users and Computers for Domains, MMC.

We get an error saying something on the lines of ' The name specified does not exist'

Ironically, it seems to be working correctly straight away this morning.

Has any one seen this before?

Rob

YOu have to allow time for replication of the new user, or force replication using the secedit method.

lander215,

Thanks for the prompt response. I understand that I have to wait for the replication to start and finish. Its just that everything has been setup to replicate twice every hour, yet sometimes it can take up to 24 hours for us to add the new users manager to the organisation tab in AD U & C MMC.

This morning for example it let me do it in less than 5 minutes.

It could be network bandwidth, but 24 hours is a mong time for my manager!

Thanks

Rob
