Hi there,

I have a very simple report which prints info on the contact history of a particular client. This report includes the field 'notes' from the client record (which obviously contains any notes about the client).

The problem is this: When I preview or print the report, the notes field is cropped to about 250 characters (rough guesstimate) - no matter how much data is actually in there. Anyone know why?

The report is based on a 3rd level query. The field 'notes' in the underlying table is 'memo' data type with no limit placed on size.

There is plenty of room for the text in the control btw, the control is allocated half of the report's A4 page and is only displaying 8pt Arial text

I run Access2k on Win2k.

thanks Robbo ;-)

Somewhere along the line formatting is being done on the memo field. Anytime you format a memo field it is converted to a text field and thus the 255 character limit. Check to see if any type of function is being done on this field in any of the queries.

Jerry,

As far as I'm aware there are no actions being performed on this field - it just gets dragged through the three queries as I pull in the information that I need for the report.

I will try a few combinations and get back to you - unfortunately my web access is in a different building on our site and so I can't test as I go!

Thanks for the suggestion Robbo ;-)

Jerry,

The problem turned out to be that the first of my three queries had the unique values property set to yes. Changing this stops the data cropping.

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction! Robbo ;-)
