Hi, using iis6 I installed TCPView from sysinternats, for those not familiar with TCP view it all ow one to see all connection TCP and UPD points for the server, im my case the web server. I've run TCP View a number of times in the past on the same server, but today i noticed that there were 1000's of TCP ports open (in the state of TIME_WAIT) to the databse server on a backbone. The db server is on port 1344 and the webserver is communicating on port 10.10.0.2:port (where port is incremented from 1197 to 2215) Then they close and open another 1000 ports a few seconds later. Then ports are not in use since the status is timeWait, but it has been doing this all morning. The server does have a virus monitoring service, plus runs a schedualed scan every night, nothing has been detected, and i just finished a complete scan and nothing. There is nothing complicated about the configuation of the web server, since it usage is to server web pages, hence no active directory.

Any thoughts as to why these ports are opening and closing all the time. There is nothing in the event logs
