I have a new Windows XP Professional PC which is on 24hrs per day running a screen saver I have designed myself.

The screen saver is running perfectly but for some unusual reason after the PC is running for a long period of time (e.g. 3-4hours) the Windows XP screen saver is starting itself and egnoring the screen saver I have installed. I have gone into the power management facilities and made sure the PC was set to "always on" for the monitor and power etc.

Can anyone explain the strange behaviour.

. I am not sure what the "Windows XP screen saver" might be, and I would appreciate it if you could explain it;

. for your custom screensaver, which I assume you coded and named with a .scr extension, right-click on the file and select 'Install'.

Hi bcastner.

The windowes XP Screen saver is the "Windows XP Logo" which jumps around the screen every few seconds.

My personal screens saver was created in a program called proshow. This has nothing to do with this issue as I am using the same setup on another PC without this behaviour.

I changed my power setting to Presentation without any change to this behaviour.

Hi all.

I think I have sorted out my problem. I am using "Remote Desktop Connection" to access the problem PC. I did not release the when I close down the connection the remote PC will need to be logged back on again before the PC will run as normal. The loggin screen is displayed before the "Windows XP Screen Saver" starts running.

I think this is another post altogether.
