The problem is this:

Small hosting company with small LAN of 20 PC,s sitting behind a 2501. When a ping is tried to the internet from the router 100% success rate however pinging the internal network gives poor performance of at best 60%. Also accessing the web sites hosted behind the 2501 is painfully slow. However now the plot thickens, if the router is rebooted the problems disappear before reappearing about 10-15 minutes later.

Any ideas?

What have you done on the network side to try and trace the problem. show a config on the router and change your ip's. I would also do a sh process cpu and a sh int ( ethernet )try these few things so that we can get a better understanding of your issues. Jeter@LasVegas.com

Have run some logging on the router all the traffic is coming from one server that has to network cards. The server is sending frames to Ethernet 0 (default route) and then on to some completely fictitious IP address. This is causing the network slowdown. I am suspicious of whether one of the NICs in the server is faulty.

Is there any router logging that can tell me what MAC address the frames are coming from?
Alternatively is there network analysing software that comes with Win 2K that will do this for me (I have no third party protocol analysers at present)
