We're looking for a way, an audit trail so to speak, for keeping previous versions of crystal reports when we modify a report and update it on Crystal Enterprise ... (Crystal Reports 10 and Crystal Enterprise 10) ... preferebly within Crystal Enterprise itself.

Where or what folder does Crystal Enterprise (10) store the information for a particular report? Again, if possible, we'd prefer to store old versions of reports within Enterprise?

Anyone have a solution that seems to work?

Thanks!

We use a separate software package for version control of all I.T. modifications. (reports, code, etc)

To the best of my knowledge all of the "report information" is stored IN the report itself.

One thing I do is create a section in the report and supress the section. I use this section to include details about the report. Details that cannot be found anywhere but within the author's brain. (LIke reasons it's grouped or sorted a certain way. Or what changes were made from one revision to another)

Every time I update a report I schedule the report to run which will remind me that it was updated (because the instance is using my logonid) and also will save the actual .RPT and thus the code in the report.

This works fine but if you have a limit on the number of instances then after a while it may be deleted eg a month. You could get round this by adjusting the Advanced Rights for the report or folder so that users can only see reports that they have run themselves.

You could export the data, as Excel or Word etc. Does this help?

Thanks for the ideas! Sounds like it just might work for us. I appreciate the help everyone.
