Hello,
We currently have a SBS 2003 server running exchange for our email. We run Symtac Backup Exec on it and Trend Micro Server/Client. Thats basicly it. I did also move over a bunch of files that us managers and stuff use off a 150gb NAS drive.
We also have an old WinNT server we run our accounting system on. Thier is alot of xls and doc files people still store on it. Im moving them over to the SBS 2003 server also.
We have a 3rd server, Win 2003 Server Standard in another country. Thier are files on it, but some files we want on that server and the SBS to be synced. I figured we could set up DFS to do that. Im talking with some guys to help me do that.
But for our backup on the SBS server, we have 2 250GB Nas drives. We do daily backups to one of them, and a full backup to the other one on friday nights.
I hear talks of servers just running as fileservers. Is this something we should look into, or just keep running the SBS server as the fileserver and use DFS to sync certain folders with the Win 2003 server in the other country to make faster access to the files for them?
Another reason I am wondering is because of file size, im not sure how long 250gb will hold our backups
