Hi,

Please forgive me for my lack of knowledge before I start....

I have a scanrio whereby I need to replace a server, I am happy backing up and restoring the databases between the two servers using the SQL utiliyu but what I need to know is if things such as stored procedures/triggers that have been created on the system will be ported over with the restore?

Thanks in advance

Brendan

Stored procedure and views are stored in the databases. When you backup a database, you are backing up the objects in the database. You should read the following article so you know all the steps required to move to a new server. Though, the article refers to detach/attach, you will need to perform many of the same steps if you use backup and restore.

Moving SQL Server Databases to a New Location with Detach/Attach
If you want to get the best answer for your question read faq183-874 and faq183-3179.
