Can anyone help me with some code or a link to a good tutorial about how to create a stored proc that can generate an excel file. I want the proc to run a query and post all that data into an .xls file generated on the fly. I can write the query bit but its the file generation i know little about.

thanks for any help

With T-SQL there is no direct route to .xls (In SQL 2000 there was)

You can do .csv or use SSIS.

We have went to using a .NET interface.
