store report in a backend?

I want to know if I can somehow link a report from a backend mdb to a front end, so that I can update the report at any time without having to remake the mde, as i do now?

I suppose I could just update the report design, then not bother remaking the mde, that way, at least I knew that the report COULD have been used.....

Couldn't you do a Save As/Export on the report from the BE to the FE copies??

Can you export to an MDE? I thought not, it is a locked app?
