Greetings,
I have been having a problem with store.exe the Information Store program that grows wildly overnight. I am running Exchange 5.5 sp3, NT 4.0 sp5, Backup Exec, and Norton Antivirus for Exchange. If I start and stop the store.exe program the memory usage will drop to around 9-10 mb. Overnight it will grow to around 140 to 150 mb and if I let it go more than 3 days the server will eventually run out of memory. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Mark

Mark,

Chill out man. This is normal. Leave it. The server should not error with out of memory, but you will appear not to have any memmory left. Store.exe is like a RAM drive for your Exchange mailboxes. It stores as much of priv.edb as it can so that email access is faster. During the day you are validating log ons, printing and whatever else so RAM is needed elsewhere.

Suggest you go to SP6 on NT though.

Zel,
Thanks for the reply. But it does crash after it runs out of memory. The event log fills up with errors and its next to impossible to get a clean shut down. Even going into services and shutting down the information store manually about half the time it just hangs and we have to do a hard reboot.

In that case have you tried NT SP6 and Exch SP3? Ensure your NT page file is set correctly too.
