Hi all,

I'm looking to expand a E-250 with an external storage array.
Currently it's maxed out on it's internal scsi drives.
So, an external with a new scsi card would fit the bill nicely.

The Storedge D2 array seems to be the intresting one.

Does anybody have experience with this storage array ?

the E-250 is running 2 oracle databases, not more then 2 Gb /database.

Thanks for any info!

Hi.

From what I've been told the D2 is Sun's replacement for the D1000 which they no longer supply. We've just had one installed on-site here on a new V480 server and have had no problems at all. We are just treating it in much the same way as we would have a D1000.

It's software based for all your raid config needs, but going for a hardware based raid controller doubles the pricetag (A1000).
What kind of difference can one expect from a hardware based raid setup versus software based ?

Too bad I've never had any hands-on experience with hardware based raid setups to see what kind of improvement they offer.

Thanks,

Iga
