I have a bunch of extra cables. Okay, yes, I should throw some of them out. But I need to keep some of them on hand just in case. What's a good way to store cables when you don't have much physical space? I'm talking about USB cables, Cat5, coax, VGA extensions, even old null modem cables. Any ideas? Not much way to roll them up and hang them on the wall, either. I do have a cabinet with drawers.

Those plastic-stackable Rubber Maid drawers. Priced reasonable at Big Lots, but can be found at many other places.

Yeah, that'll work. I can even get those kind with the casters on them. Thanks!

I store mine in cut down paper boxes(cut down so the box is the size of the lid) then stack the boxes. But im talking a 5 shelf rack with maybe 9 boxes to fill a shelf since I have more cables than most.

For customers I've used zip-lock bags and stored them in file cabinet drawers.

Give the wrong symptoms, get the wrong solutions.

I like the plastic storage totes with built in lids that the retail stores use to get their orders in.
Of course having wall space with hooks would be the best. I have a nice wall in my tech room to keep all of our audio and power cables nicely laid out.

Thanks for the great suggestions. I would like to hang them on the wall, jeffmoss26, but because of where my office is located (near the admin offices and dignitaries often walk by and can see in) I have to keep it neat and clean in here. In other words, I have to keep the cables out of sight. I like the plastic storage totes idea.
