Is it possible to have a Storage Node on a higher version of Legato than the main backup server?

Config is a Sun box with 6.1.1 and two NT4 storage nodes with 6.1.1 on too. To try to do some additional tasks we are looking at upgrading one of the storage nodes to 6.1.4 or even 7.1.2 but I'm almost certain we'd run into problems, but I'd like confirmation of that before I completely rule it out.

Any idea/suggestions out there?

It is not recommended to have a storage node or client higher than the server.
The supported recommendation is that te server is equal or higher to the storage nodes and the storage nodes are equal or higher than the clients.

In principle, there should be no problems with repect to the core functionality. Of course, additional features of the remote SN would not be supported by the older server. The most important issue is that such constellation normally would not be tested by Legato support and nobody knows for sure about the compliance.

As I understand it, it's not recommended to have different versions at all between storage nodes and servers.

I can vouch from experience that server 6.0.3 does not get along with storage node 6.1.4, for example.

Actually, the SN functionality is not the issue but the associated client software. In the release notes you will find a compatibility table .
