Hi Iam running NW 7.2.1 on Srv 2003.

I have a Backup Server and an Exchange Storage node.
The exchange SN has a 3TB disk where it backs up to.

On the backup server I have the device rd=exchange.domain.net:\\exachange\share

When I run a full backup of the exchange server C: it all works okay, but does not backup the index.
I believe the index gets backed up on the main backup server.

What is the best solution to the problem?
I would really like to avoid the index going to tape as i would like to setup staging from disk to tape after 14 days of backups.

Can anyone help ?

There is no way out - index and bootstrap must be backed up locally at the server. Consider you have a Dynanic Drive Sharing (DDS) licens, you may of course share devices within the same data zone.

will this work in sharing Backup to Disk option ?

It will. However, unmounting/mounting is not dynamic - you must do it manually. And it is not supported.

I would recommend to use a disk device at the NW server and to migrate and/or clonme the save sets to the storage node later.
