Stopping rollover & disabling button

I'm trying to find out how I can turn the rollover off on a button symbol and disable the button so it just looks like part of the background, I may just need to disable it I don't know.

I'm using Flash 5.

Put your button in a 2 frame movie clip, and when you want it disabled, just send the movie to the second frame where your button would only be a duplicated graphic version of your button. If you want to re-enable it, then just send the movie clip back to frame 1.
