Stopping 'Loading applet...' ?

Okay, the question is this.

When an applet is inserted into an HTML page and that page is viewed there is a 'splash screen' placed over the area that the applet has been given control of - this usually displays something like a grey rectangle with the helpful but unsexy words "loading applet..."

I was wondering whether there is any way to override this behaviour? I was also wondering what is responsible for the production of this message.


Any help on this one would be gratefully received...
 
I think I remember that there is something that you can put in your HTML tags to handle this. Look at HTML docuemtation to see if you can put your own message when the applet is not running. I am not aware of anything in Java to control this.
