I am currently working on creating a generic w2k install image. One problem I am having is that Internet Explorer automatically places its icon on the desktop and quick launch bar every time a new user logs onto the machine.

I'm sure there has to be a registry hack or some other setting where I can stop this. Any help would be appreciated.

pgarrett42,

If you are running SP3, look for "Set Program Access and Defaults"

The first entry will be Web Browser with "Use my default" set and IE NOT set. Remove the tick from "show program" and click OK.

It changes more reg keys than I care to count, but may solve your problem.
