Hi,

I'm currently working through a number of tutorials so I can learn the basics of Flash but have found a couple of problems with the instructions being given!

Could some please tell me the best way to stop a movie? I have tried to apply the actionscript code stop() to a layer which I have tried placing at the top and at the bottom and this doesn't work, I have even tried placing it on the layer which is moving but still this doesn't work!

If anyone could please point me in the right direction it would be greatly appreciated!

Regards

Toby

your approach is good.
make a layer for the scripts.
click the frame in the timeline where you want to have the stop-action. press f6 to insert a new keyframe.
open the actionscript-window and put
Code:
stop();
and don't forget the semicolon at the end
look, here is a file where you can see how it can be done:

i hope that helps

firegambler,

thanks for your help! I think it was more of me being an idiot. I found that it does stop the action if you test it rather than playing it in the design window!

Thanks all the same!

You can test simple frame actions or button actions directly in authoring by enabling under Window->Enable Simple Frame Actions or Window->Enable Simple Buttons...
