Hi,

A client using EagleSoft (dental software) and I need to stop their database(s) prior to backups. What would be the command line to stop a database (via a batch file)? The engine is Sygate Adaptive Server Anywhere. and the database name is dental.db

Thanks,
John

There are two ways of doing it, the easiest is to use the dbbackup command to take a copy of the live database out to a separate directory and back that up, schedule it for say an hour before the main backup kicks off, or you can use a NET STOP command to stop the Sybase service and restart it afterwards.
Its a while since I've used either but the help file should give more information.

John
