Hello all,

I want to block access to Morpheus, LimeWire, and the various other Gnutella network programs that users use for file sharing. I know some users will probably circumvent this by tunneling traffic through open ports such as http. Is there some way, hardware or software, that allows for inspection of these packets and will take immediate action to prevent such connections?

Thanks for your help in advance.

HI.

Start by defining the network policy with the management personal, and deploy a written document to users explaining the problems and what to do.

At the pix, first step is to switch to access-list that will only allow certain ports (dns,smtp,http,https,etc..) to go out and so block many other unwanted applications.

No, I don't know how to further inspect the traffic that will go via port 80 or another one, but some options are using a proxy server, or a network monitor software.

Another option is management at the PC network with products such as SMS.

Bye
