does anyone know if there's a way to stop Internet Explorer from playing it's navigation sounds on the pages you build? like the little click you hear when you open a page?

I don't believe there is a way other than disabling the sound using the Sounds control panel applet. The click sound is a function of the browser not of the event model.

thanx for the reply...

let me try asking it a different way.

i have a web page that opens and when that little "click" sound runs it takes a great deal of the integrity away from the page(a very interesting but unusual page), and so what i really want to do is stop sound from coming thru the speakers, disguise the sound, or play a blank wav file or something.

if anyone has a brainstorm please let me know.

i found the answer:

at least for what i was trying to do.

i played a BLANK in an endless loop in another window which doesn't allow any other sounds to come though the speakers.

Very original fix to the problem. You may want to check processor resources as loops tend to be processor hogs.
