Hi Everyone,
I want to stop MSN messenger from running in my computer. I would actually love it if I could disintergrate it from my computer. I can't shut it down as it says some softwares use its resources kinda thing and it needs to be running though I am logged off. I want to move to a better messenger so I would like to shut it down .. someone pls help me do it.
Thank you,
Kewlcoder

You should first uncheck "load at startup" from messenger options...or you could do this start - run - msconfig -startup and uncheck windows messenger..

Try some of these.

How To uninstall Windows Messenger completly from your computer
faq779-1380

The other method to uninstall it completely,
Go to Start > Run, then type in this and run it. (one Line)

RunDll32 advpack.dll,LaunchINFSection %windir%\INF\msmsgs.inf,BLC.Remove

Easiest way I have found is to:

1.Right Click on the start button
2.Find the Messenger folder within your Program Files folder.
3.Right Click on it and select Rename
4.Change it to MessengerNoMore or whatever you please.

Messenger can no longer load on a restart or after you open your Outlook.

Note:Messenger must be shut down before you can rename it.

Im sure you know this but I meant to tell you to explore in step 1 after you right click on the start button. Thx.
