Sometimes when you install software, you get a load of junk entries placed into your favourites folder. Can this be prevented ?

Bad news is NO.

It's handled in the install routine. You would have to modify the installation file with a hex editor for it to be possible.

Thanks reghakr. I had a thought on the subject though. Could I have my own "Favourites" directory, so that the rogue entries go into the original, but the new folder stays untouched? Just a matter of getting IE to use a different path to get the favourites list, maybe, or is this straw clutching?

P.S... thanks for the advice about IE 6 upgrade. I did it and it is fine.

reghakr,
I had a peruse on the MS site, and I am baffled as to the rights & wrongs of TweakUI. I gather your link points to the latest version 1.33, which is safe to run on WMe ?

Thanks for the info

Yep, works fine on ME. You'll also notice a new tab called Open, where you can modify dialog boxes and make Custom Places Bars. These are the file open dialog boxes that appear in Office 2000 for example.
