Stop the ConsoleOne Madness

Consoleone 1.33, Netware 5.1 sp5. IP and IPX. C1 running from server

Consoleone reports error 8819 server connection lost when trying to view properties of users.

ConsoleOne reports Unable to view properties of objects when trying to view properties of a volume.

Whats been done...
full dsrepairs, volume check, trustee checks
WS only had IP, installed IPX.
sent packet trace and c1 debug to Novell
ran c1 from workstation

It seems to be related to the servers I connect to when using c1, maybe a network issue. Nwadmin works great.

Any help would be great, I've had the problem for ages now

C1 sucks. It has trouble communicating with the servers all the time. A couple of suggestions to make it better when you have to use it: Install it on the workstation, and use version 1.3.3 with all the service packs and related patches. Your problem is not the DS or the server, it is the way C1 looks at it. Use NWAdmin when you can. It'll keep you from pulling out your hair. We have to use it here, since NWAdmin can't be used to administer GroupWise 6.

Novell promises that we will like the next management tool. I;m not holding my breath.

My understanding is that there is a 1.34 version available. It is referenced in the zenworks service pack documents. I have not yet tried it out.

I totally agree, it does suck! I'll try 133 with any updates. The only reason we need to use it is because of zen 3 and the use of XP policy packages.

I am quite ready to get rid of Netware because I am very tired of ConsoleOne. Try to run it on W2K Server with Netware Client and you will find it is horrible. Does any of you know ways to run ConsoleOne without Netware client?
