I want to write a batch file for stooing and starting the exchange Server 2000 services, so that I can back it up without buying an additional agent.

Does anyone have a sample script for this purpose?

I intend to use a scheduling package, such as Launchpad to run this before and after my backup has taken place.

stopexch.bat....
net stop /y "Microsoft Exchange....."

startexch.bat
net start /y "Microsoft Exchange....."

For each line of the two batch files you put the entire name of each Exchange service in quotes. The actual names are under Services.

You can stop and start this with the System Scheduler.
Also, most tape backup programs have a place for Pre and Post commands.
