Stop Soundblaster auto-detecting speakers

I have a Soundblaster Audigy 2 ZS and a set of 4.1 surround speakers. This all worked fine until I recently had to move the PC to another location.

Now whenever I re-boot my machine the Creative driver re-sets itself to 2-speaker mode. I think this is because the rear speakers are now further away so I've had to extend the cables, and perhaps the extra length (and thus lower signal strength) means that the sound card is deciding that there are no rear speakers attached.

Does anyone know how to force the Creative software to not auto-detect the speakers? I've had a look around but couldn't see this option anywhere.

Thanks

There is a configuration menu under CONTROL PANEL - SOUND AND AUDIO DEVICES - VOLUME TAB - down to SPEAKER SETTINGS - ADVANCED - SPEAKER SETTINGS. You should be able to select the appropriate setting here (asuming its not already).

Hmm, that was set to stereo. I've changed it to quad and will see whether the Creative drivers keep the setting. Thanks for the heads-up.
