Hi All,

New to SAS. Is there a way to jump to different parts of a SAS query or stop/end a SAS query. I don't want to do this in a data step. For instance, if I want to skip the first several statements and jump to the middle of a query or simply stop the query itself.

I would think that it would need to be done with something kind of script statement related to the environment it's running in.

thanks,
Alan

If you mean to stop the SAS application from running, you would need to 'kill' it using an external process (shell). If you want to stop the SAS job from completing its execution based on some logic you would use the 'STOP' keyword in a SAS datastep.

Hi Klaz,

exection = execution.

I am doing query development / testing. Usually try to do that in steps or pieces. Basically want to skip parts of the query that have already been developed and working correctly OR stop the job execution at certain points. Is there no way, except thru data steps?

I've seen documentation that instructs to use STOP, QUIT, or ABORT in data steps for branching logic. But, I'd like to be able to do what I say above outside of the data steps, IF possible.

As mentioned, SAS is new to me. Been using WebFOCUS for the previous 5+ years which allows use of script commands to do what I mention above.

Highlight the section you want to run and submit the job. It will only run the highlighted area.

Thank you! That works! That was just too easy. I've did that in other query tools, just never occurred to me that SAS would allow it, but then I'm new to SAS ...

thanks again,
Alan
