Hi, I feel like such a noob on this but I'm quite new to the Avaya system.

We have incoming calls that ring on all active extensions. Mostly our receptionist picks up but if she is busy them someone else picks up. We have auto attendant set up to pick up after 4 rings.

We would like to set some kind of night mode so that when the receptionist leaves at 3:30PM then the auto attendant picks up immediately rather than ringing all the extensions. Then the caller could either select an extension to ring to or select the receptionist -- in which case the receptionist voicemail would pick up and take a message. We tried playing around with the "Night Mode" but that doesn't seem to do the trick -- as many have noted before here, it only adds new lines to ring, but it does not take away the regular lines from ringing.

What do you recommend as the best and/or easiest solution?

I've looked through the manuals quite a bit, but like I say I'm still getting up to speed on this. If you need more info just let me know. We're on Partner ACS R1.0.1 C01.

Thanks much.

You need to program a night button on x10 (#503). Then, go to #507 and make sure it is set to always. Then #506 programs the delay, 2 for night mode, then choose the number of rings before AA answers. Now, when you press the night button it will go to the attendant after that many rings.

ACS R1.0 will only have Immediate (2 rings) and Delayed (4 ring) available for BOTH day and night, (you can't set night different from day)

Set it to Delayed.

Program your DAY message in the NIGHT auto attendant, and your NIGHT message in your DAY auto attendant.

Turn the ringers OFF on all of the phones.

Put all of the phones that should ring in the Night Service group

Program a Night Service button on Ext. 10, and label it RINGERS ON

So if I understand correctly, the ringers are set to OFF during the DAY mode (which will be set at night). Then the phones are added to the Night Service group so that they will ring during the NIGHT mode (which will be set during the day).

I'll let you know how it goes!

THANKS! This worked great. For those following along, I wanted to fill in some details:

To do this, go to System Program --> Central Tel Program, then select the extension you want to program. The lines will light up: solid means ring, slow flash means delayed ring, fast flash means off. Do this for all lines and all extensions.

Option #504. Cycle through all the extensions you need.

One more question: if I want the auto attendant to pick up faster at night, is my only option to use #506 every night/day?

Unfortunately yes, because that earlier release doesn't let you change the number of rings between Day and Night mode, and doesn't let you specify the number of rings to anything other than 2 or 4.

Ok, that's not too hard of a process. Thanks for all your help!
