Stop playing MP3s, please!! 1

Accept my apologies if this has come up before. When I click an MP3 file on the web up pops QT with its tedious little grey bar to play it. I want it to stop, but no amount of MIME fiddling will make it go away. Please help if you can, I'm slowly going nuts here! Quicktime 7 Pro, Win XP, make it stop!

That is and should be simple to accomplish...

1.) Associate all MP3s with the App of your choice... Right Click on an mp3 file, choose OPEN WITH and then choose your Application, ie. WMP or WinAmp, but do not forget to place a Checkmark below the CHOICE BOX, so that it will open all MP3s with that APP in the FUTURE...

2.) Edit your Autostart ramp, and get rid of the QT TRAY app...

3.) install the QT Alternative (

http://www.Free-codecs.com)...

this will replace the QT with a less offensive QT lookalike and deinstall if I am remembering correctly, the original QT...

4.) De-install QT permanently...
