Does anyone know of a way to stop the messenger service running on NT/2000 computers by using a login script? If possible could you please post the login script text here?

Thanks in Advance.

Hello,

You dont need a script you can just disable the account.
Go to control pannel and there systems management and then services . One of the services should be msgr . Double click it and put the service to disable.

Greetings

Just to add to lordeos tip - if you don't want it starting at all, set startup type to disabled (for messenger server - run services.msc to get into this quickly). If you want to run a a login script for a particular user (that will stop this service - but service will normally be automaticlly started), you could use psservice, part of pstools freeware from
