Stop http request freezing page & show loading animatio

Hi all,

I reasonably new to ajax and have what I would have thought is a simple problem!! To cut a long story short I'm making several http requests via javascript that is freezing my entire browser until they are all completed.

What I'm trying to do is display a loading image until my javascript is finished.

Is this possible using client side only scripting?

It should be, I'd have thought. Are your requests taking a long time to complete? Are you sending a very large amount of data back?

The requests individually take a few seconds each, but combined could be up to 10 seconds which is a long time when your sat in front of your screen waiting for it to load (these days at least!!).

Its almost like I need one thread thats doing the requesting work, and another thread thats just the normal operating browser.
