Stop Genie effect from minimized documents/files

1) I have several AI files opened, but minimized in my dock area.
2) I close an open AI file on my desktop.
3) Then the top minimized file in my dock area automatically maximizes onto my desktop.

Question:
How do I stop this automatic action?

Often, the file Illustrator chooses to automatically maximize onto my desktop is not the one I want to work on at the time. I then have to minimize the file I don't want and then select the one I really need from the dock area.
