I am using SQL Server 8.
I am running a crystal report that uses the username "CrystalUser". I am getting the log message in the event viewer:

Event Type: Information
Event Source: MSSQLSERVER
Event Category: (4)
Event ID: 17055
Date: 10/25/2007
Time: 9:34:51 AM
User: N/A
Computer: MASTER
Description:
18456 :
Login failed for user 'CrystalUser'.

The network guy wants all events to show and not just the failed logins, so I can't change that.

Can someone point me in the right direction of how to get rid of this message?
Thanks

Have who ever is attempting to log in with the username CrystalUser with the incorrect password use the correct password when they try to connect.

Howdy MrDenny,
The username CrystalUser is only used in my ODBC pointer on the machine. I pass in the password to each Crystal report and it is hardcoded to one value. I am positive that I am using the correct username and password for each crystal report.

According to the log entry which you posted; someone, somewhere on your network is trying to log into the SQL Server using that account with the incorrect password.

Unforunately with SQL 2000 there is no way to tell what machine the connection is coming from.

Howdy MrDenny,
I open up crystal reports 10 on another machine and open up a report. I run the report and I have to supply the password. I type in the password and all the data comes back to me. I check the log of the server that is running SQL Server 8 and it shows the same Event Log, but only once. When I run the report over a webpage, I get the exact Event Log happening 4 times. This report I am testing against is very basic only accessing one table. Not sure where to keep looking.

I would dig into the source of the report. Sounds like there are extra data connections within the report that are trying to make connections.

You may want to ask this in the Crystal forum.
